Gold Beach Tsunami 2011 – View from the Rogue River Bridge

This was an incredible display of the power mother nature. We were very excited to witness and observe this tsunami that was relatively small and posed little threat to human life. We were having fun witnessing this, and that is no disrespect to Japan and the tragedy that is unfolding over there.

This is clips of footage that was captured over a 4-5 hour time period. During this time about 10-15 tsunami waves surged up the rogue river. Of these only 5 were larger breaking waves. Tsunami occured during a pretty low tide (0-3 ft). The Rogue River was cranking that day too, showing 26,000 CFS at Agness which likely means closer to 35,000 CFS in Gold Beach. Point is those waves were pushing against a lot of water.
